How To Not Wear Jeans

You're probably wondering why somebody would ever make a blog post telling you how to not wear jeans, but think about it. I attend a college and have a part time job that do not restrict you to wearing a uniform, so my choice of clothing on a daily basis is entirely my own. Because of this, I can admittedly get very lazy in my OOTD choice, and resort to wearing jeans probably around 4 or 5 days of the week. I know I'm not the only one that does this! So, like me, do you not ever get bored of wearing jeans?

I've written this post for people in a similar situation to me. You don't want to wear jeans every day, but the people around you (unfortunately) can be quite judgemental on the other choices of "bottoms" you decide to wear (they could be too short, not suiting to the weather, etc). Of course, the first thing I'm going to tell you is forget what other people think. Wear what you want! But if you do need a little guidance, then here are a few alternatives to denim that I wear all the time.

Number 1: Faux Leather

Personally, I adore making a plain outfit look ten times better by adding a bit of faux leather. One of the easiest ways to do this of course, is by swapping your plain black jeans, with a pair of leather trousers (you can argue they're jeans, but come on, they're not technically denim!). My favourite are these high waisted "Joni Style" from TOPSHOP, or a close second are the River Island Molly's. However, if you do want to make that full jump away from trousers, definitely go for a leather skirt! My leather skirts from River Island are my favourite piece of clothing in my wardrobe (I have khaki and black). They are so easy to style, so comfortable and the perfect length. The best thing about these it that they can be dressed down in the day with black tights and flats, or dressed up for a night out with a beautiful pair of heels.

Number 2: Skirts

Skirts are the perfect way to stay cute and cosy but still look good on a day out. Trust me, you cannot go wrong in a bodycon, skater or aline style paired with a pair of tights, even in this cold weather.PS: I even find a good pair of tights warmer than a pair of jeans! Because they're so versatile, you can stick to a plain black skirt and let the rest of your outfit do the talking, or be adventurous and style a patterned or coloured skirt as the vocal point of your outfit. I love styling my missguided dogtooth skirt with a black long-sleeved tshirt and chunky boots for a comfy yet so sophisticated look. You'll be surprised how casual you can make a skirt look with the right accessories.

Number 3: Slouchy Trousers

Personally, I'm leaving this one until it gets a little warmer, as you do only tend to see these around in summer. But saying that, it certainly doesn't mean I don't like them. On a slightly lazy day, or even a day that you're rushed for time, a pair of slouchy, printed trousers paired with a vest and denim or leather jacket is the perfect way to be dressed in under 10 minutes, but still look absolutely amazing. My favourite store to find these in is by far H&M, I honestly don't think I could go anywhere else.
