This winter has definitely not been kind to my skin. The fact that I've also been very lazy with my skincare routine hasn't helped either. I've just gotten into the habit of quickly going over my face with a makeup wipe and completely skipping cleansing/toning, etc. So this month I decided to start fresh with a brand new skin care routine, that wasn't too high maintenance or costly.
After hearing nothing but positive things about the Clarisonic, but not being able to afford it being a student and all, I had been searching the high street for an exfoliating alternative. A few days ago I found the "A Brush with Greatness" by Soap and Glory, a double sided brush, one with longer white bristles designed to exfoliate your skin, as well as a softer, pink side to massage your face afterwards.
Upon first trying the product I did find the bristles to be quite sharp and harsh to the face if you exfoliate too vigorously, but I'm confident after a few uses they will soften. It's recommended you use the brush with a cleanser to either remove your makeup or completely clear your face after, but I definitely do not recommend using it with a water based cleanser. I bought the Garnier Micellar Water (supposedly a dupe of the Bioderma Crealine H2O) and I find it just runs straight off of the bristles'. I used to use the Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing Cleansing Lotion, which has more of a milky/gel consistency, which is probably perfect for this brush.
I'm about a week into using the brush every night, and it has honestly done my skin wonders! I've definitely had no break-outs and any blemishes I had before have cleared straight up. I would suggest using the brush at night before going to bed, because the bristles are quite tough and can leave your face a little red. Usually, I will use my Garnier Micellar on a clean cotton pad to remove the majority of my makeup, then I'll exfoliate my face with the brush, warm water and the cleansing residue. I find this way I get the best result and my face isn't left sticky or tacky.
